Jesus was in Jerusalem to celebrate Passover with his friends and disciples. To show them the kind of life he wanted them to lead Jesus washed their feet. This was a servant’s job, not a job any of them would normally do. Jesus wanted them to understand that just as he washed their feet they were to wash each other’s feet. Jesus wanted them to under stand that they were to live humbly and lovingly. This image is a reflection of Jesus’ entire ministry. Jesus lived humbly and lovingly. Jesus life and ministry is one of servant hood -to God and to those around him.
