A sacrament is an outward, visible symbol of the inner spiritual gift of God’s grace.
The scallop shell and flowing water symbolize baptism. In baptism we make a public commitment to be part of the body of Christ, the church. The sheath of wheat and the fruiting grape vine symbolize the bread and wine of communion. In communion we remember Passover, Jesus’ last supper with his disciples and his promise to return.
