By the sixth chapter of Genesis humans have become so wicked that God decided to destroy them all. God decided to send a flood that would wipe outliving things on the face of the earth.
But there was one man who pleased God – Noah. God instructed Noah to build an Ark to ride out the flood. God told Noah to collect two of every kind of living creature to save, plus food enough for everyone on board. Noah and his wife, his three sons and their wives did all that God told them. The rain began and continued for forty days.
God remembered Noah and stopped the rain. Many days later the water subsided enough that Noah sent out a dove. The dove found nowhere to perch and returned to the ark. A week later Noah sent the dove out again and this time the dove returned with a fresh olive leaf. Seven days later the released dove did not return and Noah considered it safe to unload and leave the ark.
God promised to never again send a flood to destroy the earth and set a rainbow in the clouds as a sign, a reminder, of that promise.
In this window is the flood, the destruction, the ark, the dove and the Rainbow.
