Did you know the book of Genesis begins with not one but two stories of creation? Both stories are represented in this window.
The first creation stroy is a day by day accounting of God’s creative activity., including a seventh Sabbath day of rest. On the left we can see stars and spinning panels, part of “the lightsin the vault of heaven” that God created on the fourth day.
In the second creation story God first created man, Adam, and settled him in the Garden of Eden. God decided that Adam should not be alone. God made Adam fall asleep, took one of his ribs and fashioned a woman from it. The woman Even will be the man’s helper. These images are in the center of the window.
God instructed man not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. If he ate from it he would die. A snake convinced Even that eating of of the gruit wouln’t kill her. She decided to tryh some and gave Adam some too. This disobedience to God’s instructions led God to expel them from the garden. The tree, the snake, and some of the fruite are in this window on the right.
Can you see God’s hands and face?
