Mission and service are integral parts of our worship at First Presbyterian Church in Muskegon. For decades we’ve focused on following Jesus’ admonition in Matthew 25 to feed the hungry. We volunteer monthly at the Supper House, join the First Congregational Church in Muskegon in offering a Feeding America food truck at least twice a year and have been supporting Bread for the World for decades. Our hunger projects are supported through monthly bake sales done by members of our mission committee as well as monthly donations to the PCUSA’s Centsability project. Our youth annually raise money for hunger projects by participating in the Souper Bowl of Caring.
A group of local moms meet twice a month to fellowship together and share gently used children’s clothing and shoes with each. We can always use help with childcare for these gatherings!
We are always collecting donations for Mission for Area People (MAP) caring for our neighbors, Every Woman’s Place to strengthen families in Muskegon County, and the Muskegon Rescue Mission, hope starts here.
When disasters strike in the world, we generously support Presbyterian Disaster Assistance who always have boots on the ground in areas of trauma and disaster. Most recently we’ve support PDA’s work in the Ukraine, and after the most recent hurricane in Haiti.
