Rev. James B. Rausch, Pastor

Pastor Rausch and his wife, Chris, have two children, Jennica and Jacob.  Pastor Rausch is a graduate of the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary in Iowa with a M. Div., and a B. A. from North Central College of Naperville, Illinois.   He joined the staff of First Presbyterian in November 2011. In addition to seasoned experience in preaching, pastoral care, teaching and congregational dynamics, he also brings musical talents (vocal, trombone and digital composition,) management experience, a broadcasting background, experience with disaster recovery and international mission teams.

Arisha Coffee – Youth Program Director/Young Family Facilitator

Drawing on extensive experience with children and youth, Arisha Coffee, loves to provide an environment and experiences which help young people to explore,  question, think and grow in their faith and self-confidence.   Vibrant in her own faith and naturally engaging and dynamic, Arisha’s love of Christ radiates as love for those around her.

In addition to serving God here through ministry at First Presbyterian Church, she is a committed member and youth leader at Church of the Living God in Fruitport.  She and her husband, Andre, are proud parents of their daughter Uriah.

Arisha knows – and is well-known within – the greater Muskegon area, having served in numerous volunteer and professional roles including Community EnCompass and the AmeriCorps Vista program.  She currently directs the after-school program at Muskegon Christian School.

Joan Bengston – Office Manager

Joan Bengston has been with FPC since 1997. She has a variety of responsibilities affiliated with the members of the congregation including church records, publications, annual reports, volunteers, as  well as the day to day operation of the church office.


Kathy DeCormier – Financial Secretary

Kathy DeCormier joined the staff of FPC in 1999.  She oversees our daily financial operations including accounts payable/receivable, financial reports and assists with the church operating budget.



Brenda Jeisy – Director of Music

Brenda Jeisy came to FPC in 2013 and has brought growth, depth (and fun!) to our worship music programs.   An accomplished, organist, pianist, violinist and vocalist, Brenda has extensive experience in teaching, directing, performance and worship leadership.

With a BA in Music Education from Albion College (Go Britons!) and a Masters of Music Education from Jones International University of Colorado, Brenda has enhanced our choir, hand-bell and youth music programs and is helping FPC follow its calling to new and expanded opportunities to praise God through the arts.

She accomplishes this while serving as a full-time mom, private instructor, and a highly in-demand accompanist for many programs in West Michigan.

Richard Reubens – Custodian

Richard Reubens joined the FPC staff as custodian in 2015 when he retired from full-time work in the automotive career that he worked in for over 30 years. Born and raised in Muskegon, Rich brings a wealth of knowledge and skill that have proven to be great blessings to the ministry of our congregation.


Melissa Boughton – Nursery Attendant

Melissa Boughton has been a part of our church family since birth. She volunteered in the nursery as a teen and lead children’s time. Her love of children grew as a result of working at the beloved Camp Greenwood for many years. Melissa has an English and elementary education degree from Spring Arbor College and a ZA (early childhood) endorsement from Baker College. Melissa has been teaching preschool for over 12 years and lives in Jenison, Michigan. Melissa loves being able to give back to her church family and enjoys her time in the nursery.

LaToya Wright – Nursery Attendant

LaToya Wright joined the FPC staff in December 2017.  She is caring, hardworking, punctual, and loves the color purple!  LaToya is in her element working with children, and she loves helping them grow into young men and women. LaToya is currently studying for her Master’s Degree in early childhood education and has a minor in leadership.
